CUT-OFF VALUES OF PROSTATE SPECIFIC ANTIGEN DENSITY– AN EFFECTIVE SCREENING MARKER BEFORE PROSTATE BIOPSY
نویسندگان
چکیده
OBJECTIVE: To determine cut-off values for prostate specific antigen density (PSAD) in diagnosing carcinoma symptomatic patients. METHODS: This cross sectional, observational study conducted at Department of Chemical Pathology and Endocrinology, Armed Forces Institute Pathology, Rawalpindi, Pakistan from June 2020 to May 2021. Symptomatic patients (309) having prostatic enlargement on ultrasound were selected through consecutive sampling. All the underwent biopsy histopathological diagnosis. Prostate was calculated compared between different age groups diseases. ROC curve constructed area under find out value PSAD. Sensitivity, specificity accuracy values. RESULTS: Among 309 median 68 years (IQR 43 – 75). There a significant difference PSAD (p<0.001) diseases like carcinoma, benign hyperplasia other disorders. had AUC 0.878 0.135 ng/ml where sensitivity 100%. A higher 0.20 suggested younger group as old found 0.135. CONCLUSION: Using part evaluation profile lesion, number unnecessary biopsies can be significantly decreased. aid decision invasive is with close biochemical follow up afterwards.

Age Specific Reference Levels of Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen, Prostate Volume and Prostate Specific Antigen Density in Healthy Iranian Men
Background: It is relevant to highlight that there is not a precise and perfect report on either 95 percentile value (upper limit of normal range) or on appropriate reference intervals for serum PSA in Iranian population. Objective: To determine age-specific reference ranges for serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) concentration and PSA density (PSAD) and prostate volumes in a population of he...

متن کاملCan Prostate-Specific Antigen Kinetics before Prostate Biopsy Predict the Malignant Potential of Prostate Cancer?
PURPOSE To predict the malignant potential of prostate cancer (PCa) according to prostate-specific antigen velocity (PSAV), PSA density (PSAD), free/total PSA ratio (%fPSA), and digital rectal examination (DRE). MATERIALS AND METHODS From January 2009 to December 2012, 548 adult male patients were diagnosed with PCa by prostate biopsy at four hospitals in Korea. We retrospectively analyzed 15...
متن کاملEfficacy of lower cut off value of serum prostate specific antigen in diagnosis of prostate cancer.
Indications of prostate biopsy are high serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) value and or abnormal digital rectal examination (DRE) findings. Although serum PSA value of 4 ng/ml is the most commonly used threshold for recommending prostate biopsy, significant proportion of men harbor prostate cancer even when their serum PSA values are less than 4.0 ng/ml. Therefore present study was designed ...
متن کاملProstate-Specific Antigen-Based Prostate Cancer Screening
Serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing is a simple and effective method for diagnosing prostate cancer. The widespread PSA screening resulted in increased diagnosis of early-staged, localized prostate cancer and marked reduction in advanced, metastatic cancer, which contributed to subsequent reduction in prostate cancer mortality. Most patients with localized prostate cancer, especially ...
